Your picture of Santa in the paddy wagon (Dec. 17th, section F) was timely, and not just because Christmas is coming. Santa was arrested two years ago, when along with a group of enterprising elves, he tried to deliver lumps of coal to Prime Minister Harper. "Mr. Harper has been bad," Santa told the elves. "He has done nothing to prevent climate change. I'm afraid I can't bring him any presents this year." After Canada's appalling performance at the Copenhagen conference, where our representatives publicly dragged their feet, and behind the scenes did everything possible to make sure that there would be no meaningful global action to prevent climate change, it seems Harper's stocking will be full of coal again this year. Worse, he has tarred our whole country with this brush, shaming us in the eyes of the world as a rich country that will do anything to maintain its comforts, knowing that it is the poor who will suffer first, and worst, from climate change. Mr. Harper, please wake up and listen to the good Saint Nicholas, before it really is too late! Sincerely, Cathleen Kneen
