Report By Grannie Alma
Well the Mob did it on the steps of Parliament, on a dreadful, cold, blustery day.  Six Grannies presented two Valentines: one to the Liberal Women's Caucus which has been so helpful in keeping the NO to BMD in the forefront of Liberal thinking; and the other a heart with a missile piercing it, for dear Paul himself, which Mme Boivin promised to personally deliver to him on his return.

Mme Boivin, faithful Liberal that she is, assured us that M Martin was opposed to Star Wars and she was sure would not endorse it.  We, alas, are not so convinced.  But we did refrain from singing one of our songs LAPDOG in deference to her loyalty, and also with the thought that sometimes the softer approach is best.

Sara Kemp made a brief but very cogent statement on behalf of the Polaris Institute, and Darth Vader, reincarnated as Trevor Hache and now a member of NOWAR, confessed that he now realizes  the error of his aggressive past, deeply repents, and urges Martin not to follow Darth's earlier path.

We sang two songs (too cold for a long recital, and were ----  believe it ---- actually filmed by CTV and Global (as usual CBC was absent).  Does anyone know if this got any air time????  To our delight
and surprise a photographer from Le Droit, our French language daily, also photographed us.  There was no one from the local English language paper, the Citizen.

The whole thing took about 20 minutes, and there was practically no one else on the Hill to see us. So was it worth it? YOU BET IT WAS. These little mosquito bites can have tremendous impact.  As some knowledgeable person observed, "If you think *one * can be ignored, try sleeping in a tent with
one mosquito."

And if anyone would like the lyrics of our two songs please ask for them. It would also be great to hear how other Valentine presentations went.

Alma, lovin' in Ottawa
