Hi Greenie:
The city page of the Ottawa Citizen has the headlines "Protest Scares tourists: police" (my words:  tough!).  And what tourists with the SARS scare??  The closest businesses are not even bothered.  That includes Chapters and a sports business right beside the demonstration.  The police say they have complaints and are concerned about the cleanliness of the demonstrators.  Dam them. As if cleanliness was a big issue when you are on the street.  One person was arrested for panhandling.  Is this something we can do: where are they getting their food and can we as a group provide sandwiches?  I'm game for making a few dozen sandwhiches and delivering.  We should ask Jane [the protest leader] about this. The demonstrators also said they could not afford to make signs.  To me signs about the situation are very important.  Is this something we could also do for them?

Jane said the police are harassing her.

What great ideas you suggest: sandwiches ( they're always hungry) and  making really effective signs.  The ones they have really don't stand out very well, but Jane's so busy trying to keep everything going smoothly that she can't take on any extras.  Now you're an artist - and i'd be glad to help you. Yeah, they are getting hassled by the police despite the permit - but you know what? I really appreciate your making space for me. Sometimes i feel that the A person gets too much space - really pushy.  I'd have liked to be on the Gay Pride parade too, but that A woman got there first - as usual.  ( Well OK - A does come before G, glammit.)

And BTW what happened to that contest. If no one else enters maybe you could Gimmit to me?

NO!!!!!  The reason nobody has entered that contest is because there is NO WORD for "limit" that starts with a G.  Or if there is, nobody can think of one except Alma, and even if "glimit" were a word, how would we look if we just willy-nilly awarded prizes to employees, relatives (including Grannies), and/or alter-egos.  Like all trick contests, we must be SEEN to be fair........Webgran
