HomeCarlingwood War Toys Gig December 16, 2006 Present (left to right in first photo below): Jeannette, Maura, Rosalie, Ria, Loris, and (in second photo below) Corinne. We met at the Sears indoor entrance and put our 'uniform' on right there. Jan (Heynen) looked after all our coats and bags. We started to sing, while Corinne passed out the hand-outs. ![]() People stopped and listened, we received
some applause, and certainly had good response to our leaflets,
especially about the part which gives recommended video games ideas.
![]() What was to be expected was that the
Security Guards arrived, and explained that we were doing something
against the law. Some of us just removed ourselves and continued to
hand out the leaflets.
Some talked to the Security Guard.
I believe all Grannies stayed very polite and 'sweet'. After all those
people have to do their duty. The guards told us to go and speak with the administration which office was open. Loris took on that task and was well received, however no promises that we can sing in the Mall, but info how to go about applying. We decided to move on, trying to 'shake off' the security Guards. We ended up at the Food Court, leafleting along the way. We sang one song at the Food Court and it looked that everybody applauded. One of the Security Guards
was a young woman. She followed us most of the time, urging us on to
leave. She was obviously frustrated with us. I felt for her; she might
have a hard time to survive among all those men. So we told her that we
would leave. Responses to our pamphlet were very good. Grannie Ria's Rage Page *******************
Note: Big thanks to Jan for guarding our stuff and taking the photos. |
