Canada’s Climate Shame

grannies in protestAfter Canada's notorious obstruction of efforts to commit to climate action at COP 15, the Copenhagen Climate Summit, Grannies Jo, Ria, Rosalie and Shannon joined the youth from Climate Action Network on Parliament Hill to unveil the large TAR-nished flag symbolizing the tarnished reputation of Canada at the summit.  More than foot dragging, Canada worked to make sure there would be no deal.

While cold, we were in the sun and enjoyed singing with the young people.  They had written a version of O Canada for the protest.  Check it out on YouTube.  The words are below.

We also distributed the words to two of our songs, "Bring Back Our Planet" and "Stand Up and Fight."  It felt good to stand in solidarity with the young people who put in so much work on this protest.

Here are the words to O'il Canada

O'il Canada!
Our home on native land!
True oil love that all Tories demand.

With sinking hearts we see Thee fall,
The Tar Sands shame us all!

From north to south,
O Canada, a petrol state you’ll be.

We make the land so toxic it bleeds!
O Canada, we ask for more from thee.
O Canada, we ask for more from thee.
